“As some may recall from a previous post, on November 25, deputies responded to a call of two elderly men who had been physically attacked at a residence on Green Acres Road in Sonora.
When deputies arrived, they contacted the two elderly men who sustained serious injuries as the result of the attack. Both victims were transported to hospitals in Modesto for treatment.
The assailant, 32-year-old Anthony Quintero of Sonora, fled the scene prior to the arrival of deputies, but was later located and arrested on Highway 108. At that time, Quintero was booked for attempted murder, burglary, elder abuse with serious bodily injury, and resisting arrest.
We regret to announce one of the victims, 77-year-old Frank Maruschak of Sonora, has died as the result of his injuries.
Quintero will now face an additional charge of murder. No further information is available at this time as this is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Worthington.
We extend our sincerest condolences to the Maruschak family and friends of Frank Maruschak.”
