Redding PD: Robbery suspect arrested outside casino after exchanging gunfire with officers

A Shasta County man wanted on suspicion of robbery and elder abuse was recently arrested following an officer-involved shooting, according to Redding police.

38-year-old Adam Parsons was identified by investigators as the primary suspect in a December 13th, 2021, home invasion robbery in Redding. Parsons, who is on parole, is accused of stealing an 80-year-old woman’s car early in the morning, which police later found abandoned in south Redding.

By that same night, investigators had tracked Parsons to Win River Casino. When officers tried to approach him in the parking lot, Parsons reportedly tried to flee on foot and, when officers deployed a K-9, drew a handgun and engaged them. Officers returned fire and wounded Parsons, at which point they were able to take him into custody. He was later hospitalized in stable condition, police said.

The K-9 officer also sustained a gunshot wound, but was treated at a local vet and was also in stable condition, police said. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
