“VALLEJO – On December 26, 2021 at approximately 11:42 p.m., Vallejo Police Officers responded to the report of an argument and gunshots heard in the 100 block of Bella Vista Way. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
The victim, a 55-year-old man from Vallejo, was transported to the hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased by medical personnel.
The Vallejo Police Department Detective Division responded to take over the investigation. Preliminary details reveal that the victim’s vehicle was stolen by the shooting suspect(s) just after the homicide. The victim’s vehicle was later flagged by the department’s Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system in the early morning hours of December 27th, leading officers to the potential suspect(s) location within Vallejo City limits.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that the victim’s vehicle was occupied and initiated a traffic stop. The alleged suspect, 41-year-old Yolanda Harris of Vallejo, was located in the driver’s seat of the victims vehicle and arrested on a series of charges, including murder. Harris was later booked into the Solano County Jail.
The motive and circumstances involving this fatal shooting incident remain under investigation at this time. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification by the Solano County Coroner’s Office.
This is the City of Vallejo’s 20th homicide of 2021.”
