January 8, 2022 – Santa Barbara County, Ca.
When Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene of a reported “attempted rape in progress” as described by SBSD spokesman Lt. Robert Minter, little did they expect that making a “collar” of the suspect would be impossible due to the fact that 28-year- old Santa Maria resident Miguel Angel Hernandez-Garcia wasn’t wearing one…or any other article of clothing.
The bizarre episode began late in the evening of December 30 th when deputies responded to a 911 Emergency call from a female in the parking lot of a Goleta shopping center who indicated she had just fought off a physical assault from an unclothed male. When deputies arrived at the scene, the victim reported that her assailant had fled the area on foot.
Deputies immediately summoned the assistance of a K-9 team as they “established a perimeter and searched the surrounding area.” It didn’t take the police dog long to locate the suspect who was “hiding under a trash can behind a grocery store” in an unclothed state.
Deputies promptly attired Hernandez-Garcia in a stylish pair of form-fitting handcuffs and wrapped him in a coarse flea-ridden blanket before transporting him to Santa Barbara County Jail. Once custody staff had him dressed in the county’s always-fashionable orange jumpsuit, Hernandez-Garcia was booked on charges of attempted rape with his bail set at $1,000,000.
