Officer Down – 4 Arrested for Murder of Young Off-Duty LAPD Officer
LOS ANGELES – Early stages of a Homicide Investigation on January 10th revealed tragic results into
the shooting of a young 3-year LAPD Officer. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies Century Station
responded to the location regarding an assault with a deadly weapon, for a gunshot victim call for service
was reported Monday, January 10, 2022, at approximately 9:16 p.m.
One person was gunned down in a robbery attempt as the off- duty Los Angeles Police Department
Officer, Fernando Arroyos, and his girlfriend were both photographing a prospective new home, large
enough to include the family.
When help arrived on the 1700 block of East 87th Street in unincorporated Los Angeles, they found
Officer Arroyos (27), lying unresponsive in the alley way suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the
body. Officer Arroyos was immediately transported by a patrol car to Saint Francis Medical Center,
where he was later pronounced dead.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide investigators are continuing to investigate the circumstances
surrounding the murder of the three-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department assigned to
Olympic Division.
An UPDATE on Wednesday January 12th, 2022 :: 11:28 a.m. PST by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s
Homicide Bureau Investigators has announced that four individuals have been arrested, however, there
is no further information provided at this time.
LASD assured, “The moment we can share further details without compromising the investigation, we
will provide another update, and we appreciate your understanding.”
