“On Friday, January 7, 2022, at approximately 4:49 pm, the Fresno Police Department responded to Save Mart located at 4120 North West Avenue regarding a theft and an assault.
During the investigation, officers learned a male and female suspect entered the store and selected merchandise. The suspects attempted to leave the store without paying, and the security system in the shopping cart locked the wheels when the cart exited the store.
An employee who was collecting shopping carts in the parking lot intervened by grabbing the shopping cart to prevent the theft. The male suspect grabbed the employee by his neck and head and threw him to the ground.
The male suspect taunted the employee victim and other employees. The male suspect punched the victim repeatedly, causing the victim to fall backward as the female suspect took items from the cart. Both suspects then left the location.
The victim sustained severe injuries, including loss of consciousness, a fractured skull, and internal brain bleeding. The victim was transported to CRMC for treatment.
The male suspect was later identified as 22-year-old Koby Foster. On January 24, 2022, both suspects were arrested by the Street Violence Bureau Tactical Team. After being interviewed, the suspects were booked into the Fresno County Jail. The identity of the female is not being released at this time.”
