Man and Woman Arrested for Residential Burglary and Drug Possession
SAN RAFAEL — A man and woman were arrested by Marin County Sheriff’s Office deputies for residential burglary and drug possession. Both suspects have other prior arrests on their rap sheets involving illicit drugs.
A burglary linked to them was reported in the small community of Inverness on January 23. The incident occurred shortly after 9 a.m., while the resident was away from home. However, an alert neighbor spotted a burglary in progress.
The witness provided a description of the vehicle used by the suspects, which was stopped while traveling on Point Reyes Petaluma Road. Two occupants were detained.
Deputies searched the vehicle. Articles determined to have been stolen from the Inverness residence were located and recovered. In addition, deputies also recovered illicit drugs from the pair.
There was a brief struggle between deputies and Craig Weaver, 34 of San Rafael, before he was handcuffed and arrested. His companion, Lia Watts, 37 of San Rafael, was arrested without further incident.
Weaver was booked at Marin County Jail on suspicion of burglary and resisting/obstructing an officer. He also faces charges for possession of a controlled substance, possession of a narcotic controlled substance, and possession of marijuana. He has multiple prior arrests involving burglary, drugs, and robbery since 2016.
Watts was also booked at Marin County Jail on suspicion of burglary and possession of a controlled substance. She has two prior arrests for narcotics possession, in addition to arrests for other offenses.
