FORMER DIRECTOR OF ORGANIZATION FOR DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED ADULTS ARRESTED

RIVERSIDE, CA – On Tuesday, January 25, 2022, detectives with the Riverside Police Department’s Sexual Assault – Child Abuse (SACA) Unit arrested 71-year-old Alan Clyde Schwerdt of Riverside on charges of sexual battery and dependent adult abuse.
Alan Clyde Schwerdt had been the director of Career Development Institute (CDI) in Riverside, and a former director for Ability Counts in Corona. These organizations offer programs and services for adults with developmental disabilities, and it is believed Mr. Schwerdt committed these crimes while working in his capacity as director between 2015 and 2020. The allegations became known in 2021.
