DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES – An elderly registered nurse on the way to serve during the Pandemic at County USC Medical Center was killed at a Downtown Los Angeles bus stop. The January 13th attack took place at Cesar Chavez Avenue and Vignes Street.
The suspect, Kerry Bell (dob 10/29/73) was accused of “attacking and striking Sandra Shells,” said Los
Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón. The life-saving nurse “fell backward and hit her head on the ground.”
Shells was immediately treated and transported to a nearby hospital, but passed away three days later.
Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) expediently opened an investigation into the tragic incident.
Kerry Bell was charged in case BA502407 with one count of murder that same week. The arraignment
was on the docket in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center.
LAPD is continuing the ongoing investigation into this heart-wrenching murder. “Sandra Shells unselfishly dedicated her life to caring for others in their time of need,” District Attorney Gascón said. “To lose such a valuable member of our community is tragic and my office will hold accountable the person responsible for her death.”
