“At 1:07 p.m. on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Communications received an 8-round and 9-round ShotSpotter activation. North Patrol Deputies were dispatched to the 6000 block of Brett Drive in North Highlands. Arriving deputies and Gang Detectives were familiar with the involved residence and subject. Once they arrived, deputies immediately identified and located the subject of interest who fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, detectives took the subject into custody without incident. Through the investigative process, detectives were able to associate a vehicle with the suspect and ultimately a Glock .45 caliber handgun, magazines and expended rounds matching the spent casings associated with the original activation.
Detained and arrested was a 17-year-old male juvenile who is a validated gang member with a violent criminal history. He was booked into Sacramento County Juvenile Hall on felony gun charges including assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a minor.
