“On February 4th at 8:44 a.m., a Placer County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a residential neighborhood in Loomis for a report of a man discharging a firearm outside a home.
A witness told the deputy he heard a loud bang that shook his home and when he went outside to investigate, he saw a man run into a white Dodge Caravan and speed away. Deputies began interviewing witnesses in the area of Shawn and Tudor Way and learned the suspect lives nearby. Deputies located the Dodge at a residence on Tudor Way and confirmed it belonged to the suspect.
They contacted the suspect, 44-year-old Salvador Huestis, who eventually complied and came outside to speak with deputies about the incident. Huestis told deputies he fired a shot from a large caliber rifle into the ground because he was upset.
Deputies searched Huestis’ home and located a large gun safe containing multiple firearms in addition to several more firearms that were unsecured throughout the home. Deputies seized the firearms and arrested Huestis for negligent discharge of a firearm.”
