“On 2-13-2022 at about 2100 hours, Crescent City Police Department Officer Lo and Sgt. Wilson responded to the 800 block of Northcrest for a report of a dumpster that had been set on fire in the Parking lot of Pizza Hut.
Upon arrival Officer Lo located several pieces of carboard that were still on fire outside of the dumpster and also located Gavin Hartje (age 19) inside the dumpster. During an interview Hartje admitted to setting items on fire inside the dumpster.
Hartje was arrested for Arson, 451 (d) of the California Penal Code, and transported to the Del Norte County Jail to be booked.
Members of Crescent City Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.
