On 2/20/2022, at approximately 6:20 p.m., the Petaluma Police Department received a 9-1-1 call regarding a stabbing at Steamer Landing Park. As officers responded to the scene, the involved suspect fled the scene toward downtown Petaluma with the knife.
Officers arrived on the scene and located the victim alert and conscious with multiple stab wounds. The Petaluma Fire Department Paramedics transported the victim to the hospital, where the stab wounds were determined none-life-threatening.
During the investigation, officers determined the victim was involved in an argument with an unknown subject over a missing tablet device approximately three hours before the stabbing. At approximately 6:20 p.m., the unknown individual returned to Steamer Landing Park with Angel Recinos-Guevara. At that time, Recinos-Guevara stabbed the victim multiple times in the torso with a fixed blade “kitchen knife.” Recinos-Guevara fled on foot toward the downtown area immediately after the stabbing.
Recinos-Guevara was positively identified as the individual that stabbed the victim, and his whereabouts are currently unknown. Update:
On 02/21/2022, Petaluma Police Department Officers arrested Angel Recinos-Guevara near Walnut Park in downtown Petaluma. Officers located Recinos-Guevara near the park, and he surrendered without incident.
There are no outstanding suspects related to this incident. Recinos-Guevara was transported to the Sonoma County Jail and booked for attempted murder.
