“And by “we,” we mean our proactive Watch A patrol officers overnight while most people were sound asleep. Let’s say a couple guns and drugs are no longer in the wrong hands, and those wrong hands are now sitting in jail.
First around 1:00 a.m., officers responded to an apartment complex on Blaine Street for a disturbance call. One of the guys they contacted had an unregistered handgun in plain sight in his truck, along with some paraphernalia indicative of selling narcotics. This gentleman was booked into jail for a variety of charges and outstanding warrants.
A couple hours later, two different officers stopped a car on Cypress Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard. They learned the driver was out on bail for two pending narcotic sales cases, and guess what? He had about an ounce of suspected meth and a pound of marijuana in his possession… for purposes to sell. He was booked into jail for more narcotics violations.
About thirty minutes after that, two more officers stopped a car at a local motel in the 10500 block of Magnolia Avenue. The driver took off running, tossing a loaded handgun in the process but our guys grabbed him up pretty quick. This man was a convicted felon and also in possession of suspected methamphetamine. He was booked for the weapons and drugs charges.
Great job staying safe while keeping the city safe!”
