“On 02/28/2022, a CPD Officer was on patrol in the area of Hwy 99W and South Ave when they observed a 2016 Yamaha Motorcycle driving without a license plate. The Officer attempted a traffic stop but the motorcycle failed to yield and led the Officer on a pursuit, reaching 85 MPH.
The pursuit went through the parking lot of Loves Truck Stop and onto South Ave. The driver, David Sumahit, eventually lost control of the motorcycle and abandoned it near the area of Houghton Ave and Viola Ave. David then fled from the motorcycle on foot. CPD K-9 Blaze was deployed and quickly apprehended David.
After Apprehending David, CPD Officers determined that he was wanted for a PRCS Violation out of Butte County. A search of David’s property yielded just over 2 ounces of methamphetamine, packaging materials, a digital scale, and brass knuckles.
David was treated at St. Elizabeth Hospital for his injuries and booked into the Tehama County Jail.
