“On March 5, 2022 at 2:28 P.M. Redding Police officers responded to the “Victory House” Women’s Program, which is part of the Good News Rescue Mission for a reported intruder.

The women and children inside the facility were sheltered in place after they heard an unknown subject yelling about bears chasing him and then heard someone enter after smashing open a glass commercial door.

Upon arrival, RPD officers located Robert Irvin Treat (38-years-old), of Bakersfield. Treat was arrested without incident and claimed he was hiding from bears.

Officers found that Treat had broken into another adjacent building, which was also part of the Good News Rescue Mission. Treat was booked into the Shasta County Jail for two counts of 459 PC – Burglary and one count of 602.5 PC – Aggravated Trespass.

A photograph of Treat is attached to this news release.”
