Originally published as a San Diego County Sheriff’s Department press release –
“On Friday, March 11, 2022, at about 4:00 PM, the Sheriff’s Communication Center received a call of a suspect who forced entry into a residence in the city of Vista near South Santa Fe and Mar Vista Drive. The homeowner was not home at the time, but saw via their Ring camera system, a man kick open the front door and enter their house.
The homeowner told the man to get out of their house using the voice feature and saw the man walk out from the house shortly thereafter. Deputies recognized the suspect from the video and went to the area where they suspected the man frequented.
A Sheriff’s helicopter arrived and began making announcements of the suspect’s description. During that time, a witness who had heard the announcements by the helicopter alerted the Sheriff’s Communication Center about a man matching the suspect’s description.
The deputies who were already in the same area, were directed to an open field where the man was attempting to hide. The man was confirmed to be the suspect and arrested without incident for residential burglary.
Sonny Hunter, 33 years old, was booked into the Vista Detention Facility for:
1203.2(A) PC- Probation Violation, 10851(A) CVC- Vehicle Theft, and 459 PC- Burglary”
