Colorado Senior Citizen Allegedly Commits a Murder on Lindenwood Street

FREMONT — A senior citizen is facing murder and other charges for shooting to death a 34-year-old person on March 15. The victim died at a five-bedroom home located at 43437 Lindenwood Street.
The suspect Franklin E. Lynch, 77 of Bailey, CO, was one of several persons who phoned police for help. Lynch told a dispatcher that he had shot the victim and that he would await arrival of officers. He also said he would relinquish a firearm when officers arrived.
The victim was found lying on the ground and unresponsive to medical assistance provided. Ultimately, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:32 p.m.
Lynch surrendered a firearm to responding officers, and he was taken into custody at 6:11 p.m. The suspect himself and several witnesses provided statements to Fremont detectives. Lynch remains behind bars at Santa Rita Jail ineligible for release on bond.
The investigation of this case remains active. However, this much is known, a confrontation between the suspect and victim escalated until shots were fired.
The homicide case was presented to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office on March 17. In addition to one count of murder, Lynch was hit with firearm-related and enhanced charges.
