CULVER CITY – When a resident heard and approached a noise in her home’s closet – thinking it was
one of her two children – a man ran out of the closet. Awakened at approximately 6:40 AM on March 5th, and frightened for her life – her call for service immediately dispatched Culver City Police Officers to the 4400 Block of Vinton Avenue.
The anonymous victim told Officers that the suspect’s getaway-run past her and abrupt exit through her front door included his stealing a family heirloom – a watch with the family’s name inscribed on the back.
Culver City Police Department Detectives utilized the victim’s home-surveillance video. Cameras had captured the suspect, wearing distinct clothing, scaling an exterior wall and gaining entry to the back yard. There, he was featured making his entrance into the residence by forcing open a back door.
“Utilizing Department resources, Culver City Detectives identified a possible suspect, who is currently on parole for robbery and was wanted by the Los Angeles Police Department for an additional robbery,” said Culver City PD PIO Sergeant Eddie Baskaron. On March 8th, a man wearing the same distinct clothing – suspect Marvin Lemon (23) of Los Angeles – was located and arrested while in possession of the same engraved heirloom watch.
The next step is the presentation of the case for filing consideration to the Los Angeles County District
Attorney’s Office.
