“On March 20th, 2022 at about 1:50 am, Palm Springs PD began receiving calls of a shooting in the 200 Block of S. Indian Canyon Drive. The initial calls also reported at least two people were struck by gunfire. Officers were in the area when the shooting occurred and were given a description of the suspects and suspect vehicle.
Within minutes, officers located the suspects, Juan Macias (Male, 01/31/1995, Resident of Desert Hot Springs) and Luis Garcia (Male, 07/23/1990, Resident of Palm Springs), and placed them under arrest.
The shooting victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Macias and Garcia were transported to the John J. Benoit Detention Center in Indio for PC 664/187 (Attempted Homicide), PC 245 (Assault with a Deadly Weapon), PC 182 (Conspiracy) and PC 3056 (Parole Violation – Garcia).
