A man was recently shot to death after violently assaulting a detective inside Fresno PD headquarters, according to reports.
Police say that, late on the morning of Tuesday, March 29, Joseph Roy (24) entered the Fresno PD Headquarters Annex, went into a detective’s office and attacked the detective, reportedly striking him in the head several times with a sharp object.
Despite sustaining a puncture wound to the top of his head and a laceration down the right side of his face, the detective managed to retrieve his firearm and shoot Roy dead. The detective was treated for his injuries, which also included a concussion, at a nearby hospital and released soon after, police said.
The investigation is ongoing as police work to determine a motive for the assault, as well as how exactly Roy was able to gain entry into the Annex, a highly secured area, without being stopped.
