Sending child porn on Facebook Messenger

“On 3-28-2022 the Crescent City Police Department, with the assistance of CDCR Pelican Bay CRT and K9 Units, served a search warrant in the 1000 block of 6th Street in Crescent City.

The focus of the search warrant was for child pornography.

CCPD received an investigation from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force regarding Walter Neeley, age 70, sending child pornography to other adults via Facebook Messenger. Officer Alex Pearson was assigned to conduct follow up investigation and obtained a search warrant for Neeley’s residence on 3-28-2022.

During the search warrant Neeley was located inside his garage and then interviewed. Neeley admitted to possessing and distributing child pornography. Neeley was then booked in the Del Norte County Jail for a violation of 311.11 of the California Penal Code.

The investigation is ongoing as we will be conducting a forensic examination of the devices seized from Neeley’s residence, and we will be forwarding the investigation to the Del Norte County District Attorney’s Office for review.”
