“On 3/26/22 at about 4:10pm, an agent with the Siskiyou County Domestic Highway Enforcement (DHE) team was conducting traffic enforcement on Interstate 5 near the City of Weed.
The agent initiated a traffic enforcement stop on a gray Nissan sedan with an Oregon license plate after observing it violate traffic laws. The Nissan was occupied by one male who was identified as 24 year-old Alberto Alvarez out of Portland Oregon.
During the course of the investigation the agent observed criminal indicators that led him to believe that criminal activity was afoot. A search of the vehicle was conducted after obtaining consent from Alvarez.
The search of the vehicle led to the discovery of three plastic packages wrapped in brown tape, Saran Wrap and heat sealed in plastic. It was determined the packages contained suspected heroin totaling about 7 pounds.
Alvarez was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Siskiyou County Jail where he was booked for misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and felony transportation of narcotics.”
