“NAPA, California –Driving under the influence (DUI) is the second leading cause of crashes resulting in injury or death for the City of Napa. After a conviction for DUI, the offender is often required to install an ignition interlock device or abstain from alcoholic beverages as a condition of probation.
Last night, officers from the Napa Police Department Traffic Unit joined with Probation Officers from the Napa County Probation department to conduct searches and compliance checks of DUI offenders.
Three offenders were found to have provided false information to the probation department when it was discovered they did not live at their listed address. Two were arrested on outstanding DUI warrants. Two more were found to be under the influence of alcoholic
beverages and using a vehicle without an ignition interlock device, in violation of their probation orders.
The Napa Police department places a high priority on lowering deaths and injury with the goal of removing impaired drivers. The Napa County Probation Department is committed to the supervision and rehabilitation of DUI offenders to prevent repeat offenses. Together, police and probation will continue to work together to make Napa streets safer for all.
