Youth soccer coach Joshua Clever from Santa Ana has been arrested on 12 felony counts pertaining to child molestation and possession of child pornography. Police are seeking additional victims.
Clever (39) has been charged with five counts of lewd acts on a child age 14 or 15, two counts of lewd or lascivious acts on a minor younger than 14, a count of unlawful sexual intercourse, a count of possession or control of child pornography, a count of sexual penetration by a foreign object of a victim younger than 16, a count of oral copulation of a child younger than 14, and a count of oral copulation of a child younger than 16.
He was first arrested after sexual allegations were made against him by the parents of one of his victims, a 14-year-old girl. “During the preliminary investigation, detectives learned that over a six-month period, Clever began grooming the 14-year-old victim, Jane Doe, who was a soccer player he had access to through his employment,” said Roxi Fyad of the Costa Mesa Police Department. “Clever subsequently gained private access to Jane Doe and is accused of having unlawful sexual intercourse with the victim.”
Costa Mesa police arrested him on April 7th for unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and lewd acts on a minor, but he was released the following day after posting $100,000 bail.
Following his arrest, police found pornographic photos of teenage girls on his cell phone and subsequently sought to arrest him again for possession of child pornography. On April 14th, he located at the 3200 block of Susan Street in Santa Ana and arrested a second time.
