“On April 23, 2022, at 3:37 P.M. Redding Police received a report that a suspect had brandished a firearm and then fired it at a male victim in front of a residence on the 2900 block of Anita Street. The victim fled in his vehicle as the suspect followed after him in a black GMC pick-up. Officers quickly located the GMC pick-up and then found Anthony Sousa Demedeiros, 50-years-old, of Weaverville, nearby and detained him. Officers confirmed Demedeiros was the suspect who fired the handgun at the victims. Officers located a loaded .22 caliber revolver in Demedeiros’ vehicle along with an illegal sap (billy club).
Demedeiros is prohibited from possessing firearms and was booked into the Shasta County Jail for the following charges: 664/187 PC – Attempted homicide, 245(a)(2) PC – Assault with a firearm, 246.3 PC – Negligent discharge of a firearm, 25400(a)(1) PC – Carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, 25850(c)(6) PC – Carrying an unregistered handgun, 22210 PC – Possession of a sap, 25850(c)(1) PC – Carrying a loaded firearm with prior offenses, 25800(a) PC – Carrying a loaded firearm with intent to commit a felony, 417(a)(2) PC – Brandishing a firearm, 30305(a)(1) PC – Prohibited person possessing ammunition, 29800(a)(1) PC – Prohibited person possessing a firearm.”
