Salinas PD: Armed robbery and brandishing arrests over the weekend

“Early this morning, officers responded to the CVS on S. Main Street for a reported armed robbery. The suspect entered the store and demanded money from the clerk. At the same time, the suspect motioned with his left hand, telling the clerk he had a taser.
The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot, officers obtained the suspect’s description and conducted a check of the area and located Salvador Marquez Jr. (35) who matched the description provided.
Marquez was taken into custody without incident, he was positively identified as the suspect. Marquez had the stolen cash in his possession. He was taken to county jail and booked on armed robbery charges. The object Marquez simulated to be a taser was a lighter.
Brandishing a weapon arrest
Last Saturday at approximately 3 PM, officers responded to the report of a woman armed with the knife chasing people and breaking into an apartment in the complex located in the 1000 block of John St. Officers arrived and were directed by tenants to the female’s location. Officers located Brianne Nicole Garnica (31), near the center of the complex.
They saw her put down a kitchen knife and a hacksaw on top of a trunk of a parked vehicle. Garnica was taken into custody. The investigation revealed Garnica had brandished the weapons at a tenant, and she was recorded breaking the bedroom window to an apartment and crawling into the apartment through the window.
Garnica was transported to county jail and is facing, burglary and brandishing a weapon charges.”
