A man was recently arrested in connection to a crime spree in San Diego that allegedly involved multiple break-ins and sexual assault, according to police.
Police have identified the suspect as 40-year-old Demetrius Trussell.
Trussell is accused of a slew of crimes beginning around 12:30 AM on April 9, allegedly forcing his way into three homes in Tierrasanta, police said.
Police caught up with Trussell at the third home, where a 53-year-old woman lives with her elderly father. Upon seeing officers, Trussell took the woman and barricaded the two of them together in one of the bedrooms, where he then allegedly sexually assaulted her multiple times, police said.
The woman’s elderly father was extricated to safety by officers.
Following failed hostage negotiations, an officer climbed onto one of the neighboring roofs and fired multiple rounds at Trussell, forcing him to drop to the floor and allowing officers to make entry into the room and take him into custody.
Trussell was ultimately booked on several charges including hot prowl burglary, kidnapping, and assault with intent to commit a sex crime, as well as a parole hold.
