Riverside PD: Men arrested for allegedly stealing wire, vandalizing city poles

“Yesterday morning, Watch A officers were out conducting extra patrol at Fairmount Park due to the recent increase in wire theft from city light poles. At 3:00 a.m., officers located a man hiding behind a light pole near Dexter Drive and quickly detained him. Officers searched the area near the subject and located two hammers and a large pile of loose wire.
They drove around the park and located 17 damaged light poles which had been stripped of their wire. Through their investigation, officers learned the identity of two additional suspects that were involved in the wire theft.
Officers from the Public Safety Engagement Team (PSET) recognized the outstanding suspects names and knew where they might be located. PSET and POP officers responded to a homeless encampment in the river bottom and located the two suspects along with additional evidence linking them to the wire theft.
David Ray Dobrenz, 33-years-old of Riverside, was arrested for grand theft, felony vandalism, and violation of Post Release Community Supervision. He was booked into jail and is being held without bail.
Twin brothers, Shawn and Bryan Yost, 37-years-old of Riverside, were both arrested for grand theft. They were booked into jail are being held on $10,000 bail.
