VISTA – Three calls came in on 05/04/2022 regarding explosions as the following locations:
- 11:30 a.m. in the 900 block of East Vista Way
- 1:24 p.m. in the 100 block of E. East Drive
- 2:41 p.m. in the 400 block of East Drive
A quick response from Deputies with the Vista Sheriff’s Station revealed that “The explosions occurred in open areas and parking lots with no obvious target or motivation. Two small fires were started by the explosions, but were quickly extinguished.”
In addition, “No one was hurt and there was no damage to property. No roads were closed or evacuations were ordered.”
While the San Diego County Crime Stoppers routinely offers a $1,000 reward on felony cases, The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has provided an additional $4,000. A total reward of $5,000 is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction in these crimes.

The Sheriff’s Bomb/Arson Unit in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and ATF are investigating. They advise extreme caution: If you see a device that seems suspicious or out of place in your neighborhood, do not touch, move or pick it up. Call 9-1-1 immediately.
