WEST COVINA – When a man entered a local business in the 400 block of North Azusa Avenue on April 6, 2022, at approximately 6:17 pm, he approached a 6-year-old girl who was momentarily standing alone. The suspect attempted to grab the victim’s hand and walk her outside, but the move was unsuccessful.
The suspect exited the location, and an investigation commenced. West Covina Police Department Detectives located Christopher Kline (38), of Covina.The suspect, who was arrested and booked for attempted kidnapping, was issued $1 million bail.
“Due to the integrity of the investigation, further information regarding the suspect will not be released at this time,” said Community Relations Officer Alexus Napoles. “Only a still frame image of what the suspect was wearing at the time of the attempted kidnapping will be made available.
As the investigation is ongoing – investigating Detectives are seeking your help. Additional witnesses that were at the location during the above date and time are requested to come forward, as well as anyone who could provide further details about the suspect or the incident.

Believing that there may be additional victims, the West Covina Police Department is asking forassistance from the public. Anyone with information that may assist in the investigation is asked to contact Detective Pruitt at (626) 939-8522. The suspect is also known to have previously resided in the City of Los Angeles.
