Man accused of setting Marin Street business on fire

“On May 17, 2022 at approximately 3:26 a.m., Vallejo Police Officers responded to the report of a large structure fire in the 600 block of Marin Street. Upon arrival, officers observed an active fire burning at a business, and worked with the Vallejo Fire department to evacuate the area.

Officers conducted an active investigation and determined that 32-year-old Xavier Williams of Vallejo lit the fire at the business. Williams was located a short distance away and was arrested on felony warrant and arson charges. The suspect was booked into the Solano County Jail.

The department would like to sincerely thank our officers who apprehended the suspect and Vallejo Fire for their swift action in extinguishing the fire.

At 3:26 am, Vallejo Fire and Vallejo Police Department responded to the 600 block of Marin St for reports of a working fire at Anchor Pantry.

At 3:29 am, firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke and fire conditions at the entryway to the store front. A quick offensive fire attack was initiated and the fire peas placed under control, containing fire spread to just the front of the store.

Unfortunately, heavy smoke damage throughout the store occurred and will require extensive clean up and remodel.
No injuries to civilians or emergency personnel reported.”
