Two Suspects Arrested in Connection with a Shooting Near San Pablo Creek

SAN PABLO —Two persons are in custody in connection with a shooting not far from San Pablo Creek on the night of May 17. Both suspects were arrested as they arrived at a residence located in eastern Contra Costa County.
San Pablo police officers responded to a shooting in front of a home located on 22 nd Street. The vehicle used by the suspects who fled from the scene was recorded on video by a city surveillance camera.
Information about the vehicle was shared with other law enforcement agencies throughout Contra Costa County. Consequently, an Oakley officer waited in the area where the registered owner of the vehicle lives.
Both suspects soon arrived and were detained and arrested without further incident. San Pablo detectives subsequently searched and recovered two firearms and ammunition from inside the vehicle.
The pair arrested are Marilu Negrete, 19 of Oakley, and Jeremiah A. Jasper, 20 of Concord. They were taken into custody shortly before 8:30 p.m. Each faces multiple felony charges.
Negrete presently remains in custody at the West County Detention Facility. Negrete was booked for assault with a firearm on a person. She also faces weapons-related charges, including carrying a concealed loaded weapon. Bond information for her was unavailable.
Jasper is being housed 17 miles away inside the Martinez Detention Facility. He remains in custody in lieu of $670,000 bond.
Jasper faces numerous weapons-related charges. These include assault with a firearm and shooting at a person from a vehicle. His other charges include making criminal threats and willful cruelty to a child.
