“Last Night in Corona…”

“Good Afternoon Corona. From 7:00 am Monday, May 30th, until 7:00 am this morning, we responded to 2,172 incidents. Included in these calls for service and pro-active patrols were 92 alarm calls, 44 area checks, 135 disturbance calls, 195 property checks, and 37 welfare checks. Officers arrested 52 persons for various crimes during the same time frame.

On Thursday, June 2nd, at about 10:28 am, officers responded to a call of a possible attempted residential burglary. Officer located a male matching the description, identified as Ceven Thomas (32-year old of Los Angeles). From prior contacts, officers knew Thomas was on Post Release Community Supervision. Officers located a glass pipe in Thomas’ pants and transported him to CPD jail. Once inside the jail, the officer found methamphetamine on Thomas’ person. Thomas was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, bringing contraband into a jail, and violation of his supervision.

On Wednesday, March 9th, a community service officer took a fraud report where the victim lost her wallet, and over $4,000 of unauthorized withdrawals and deposits were made into her bank account. Detectives took over the case, and an officer was able to positively identify Marrisa Navarro (30-year-old from Corona) as one of the suspects. On Thursday, June 2nd, officers located Navarro and found her in possession of methamphetamine, several credit cards belonging to different persons, and the victim’s driver’s license. Detectives located stolen checkbooks, credit cards, and a forged check inside Navarro’s vehicle. Navarro was out of custody on bail for a separate identity theft case. Navarro was charged with committing a felony while out on bail, identity theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, fraudulent use of a credit card, forgery, and possession of a controlled substance.

On Thursday, June 2nd, officers responded to a call of a passed-out male in the 400 block of N. McKinley Street. The male had been seen “huffing” from aerosol cleaner cans. Dispatch later received a call of a robbery in progress from a business nearby where the suspect’s description matched the description of the passed-out male. The suspect stole several cans of aerosol cleaner and fled the area. Officers were able to locate the suspect, who was identified as Joshua Lyles (30-year-old from Corona.) Lyles was recently arrested for trespassing at a business nearby and fought with officers in April. Lyles was arrested for robbery.

On Thursday, June 2nd, at about 6:00 pm, officers in the Post-Release Accountability and Compliance Team responded to a residence in the 3000 block of Briarvale Street in Home Gardens. Officers conducted a compliance check at Adam Reynolds Pino’s residence. Pino was on PRCS with full search terms. Officer located a car key on Pino, and inside the vehicle was a stolen shotgun. Officer also found a handgun, an extended round magazine, and ammunition inside a bedroom he was seen exiting. Pino was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, possession of an extended round magazine, and possession of stolen property.”
