“Just before 4:30 p.m. on June 4th, a Placer County Sheriff’s deputy responded to Blue Canyon and Putt Roads in Alta for a report of a suspicious male.
When the deputy arrived to the area, he observed a male exiting a camping trailer and went to contact him. The male, identified as 47-year-old Dustin Carmona, immediately began reaching toward his waistband, prompting the deputy to search him for his safety. The deputy recovered a silver handgun attached to Carmona’s belt, in addition to a magazine attached to the holster. The deputy also found a glass pipe in Carmona’s front pocket, commonly used to ingest methamphetamine.
The deputy detained Carmona and went to search the inside of the camper. There, he found a 1911 semi-automatic pistol, valued at nearly $4,000, and a clear plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine.
The pistol, determined to be stolen, was a limited-edition tribute to U.S. Navy Seal Sniper Chris Kyle. The pistol was loaded with four rounds of .45 caliber ammunition; there was one bullet in the chamber. Carmona was subsequently arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a controlled substance, and other related charges.”
