In a clear demonstration of the collaborative nature of law enforcement efforts, 67-year-old Hollywood, Ca. resident Richard Bulik has been arrested on multiple narcotics and firearms charges following a fatal drug overdose investigation that began on May 16, 2022.
That was the day when, according to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sergeant John Hajducko, patrol deputies attached to the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency call for service at a local area residence. Upon arrival, the deputies discovered “a subject who was deceased as the result of a fentanyl overdose.”
With that determination, detectives attached to the Ventura County Sheriff Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit were called into action. It didn’t take them long to identify Bulik “as the suspect who sold the fentanyl to the victim.” Their diligent efforts to locate Bulik led detectives on a month-long search; he was ultimately located in Los Angeles County on June 14 th and pursuant to the terms of the search warrant in their hands, detectives from both the Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit and the Narcotics Street Team took him into custody “for his involvement in the overdose.
During the search of Bulik’s property, detectives seized seven ounces of cocaine, six ounces of methamphetamine, two ounces of heroin, 10 grams of fentanyl and “several hundred pills” along with 11 firearms, possession of which is prohibited as per the terms of his parole terms.
Bulik was transported to Ventura County Jail, where he was booked on charges of possession for sale of a controlled substance, sales of a controlled substance, possession and sales of a dangerous drug, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. He remains in custody with his bail set at $50,000.
