Suspect arrested for alleged assault and kidnapping at Yucca Valley Walmart
A Twentynine Palms man has been arrested for assaulting a male victim and then kidnapping a female victim at Walmart.
The suspect, 38-year old David Sorattanasoun, had been on probation for possession of drugs with a loaded firearm. Following the Walmart incident, he was booked at Morongo Basin Jail without bail for kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon.
The male and female victims were shopping together at a Yucca Valley Walmart around 6 p.m. on June 15th when Sorattanasoun approached them. “The female victim and Sorattansoun were involved in an on again, off again relationship,” said Morongo Basin sheriff’s deputies. “Sorattanasoun assaulted the male victim, knocking him unconscious, and forced the female victim to leave the store with him.”
Witnesses watched as Sorattanasoun forced the female into a silver four door sedan parked outside before speeding away. The car was later found at a Twentynine Palms residence, and Morongo Basin detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Sorattanasoun. Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division responded and arrested him without incident.
The female victim was found unharmed at the residence.
