“Yesterday morning, just before 8:00 a.m., Riverside Fire personnel responded to a medical aid call at a business in the 5600 block of Tyler Street. They encountered an unconscious male laying on the ground next to a car. The male was initially unconscious but quickly woke up when the paramedics attempted to help him.
The male was uncooperative and attempted to enter the car. The firefighters saw two rifles inside the car and quickly pulled the male away preventing him from gaining access to the weapons. Firefighters secured the rifles as the male fled into a residential neighborhood. A female adult was also located in the vehicle and remained on scene. Officers conducted a search through the neighborhood but were not able to locate the male suspect.
Several hours later, the business called back and said the suspect had returned to the establishment. The suspect ran out of the rear door of the business and jumped a fence into an adjacent neighborhood as the officers arrived. The male was located after a search and safely taken into custody.
Angel Leroy Pena, 24-years-old from Riverside, was arrested for multiple weapon and drug violations, and resisting arrest. He was booked into jail and is being held on $25,000 bail.
Sharleen Castaneda, 24-years-old from Moreno Valley, was arrested for being in possession of a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm. She was booked into jail and later released after posting a $25,000 bail.
Great job by everyone involved.”
