The popular entertainment media may portray certain acts of violence as though they are either commonplace or easily perpetrated, but unless one is trained in military techniques of lethal combat, it’s simply not that easy to stab someone to death.
That reality apparently escaped the attention of 20-year-old Thousand Oaks resident Jose Manuel Rosa-Aldana just after the midnight hour of June 30 th. According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Det. Sergeant Rob Yoos, Rosa-Aldana came to the attention of law enforcement just after 1:00 a.m. on that date as they responded to a 911 Emergency call
alerting them to “a stabbing victim” located in a “wash area” between the northbound lanes of U.S. 101 and West Hillcrest Drive.
Upon arrival, uniformed patrol units discovered an adult victim apparently “suffering from multiple stab wounds.” Emergency Medical Services were promptly summoned, and the victim was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of his wounds. The immediately ensuing investigation by VCSD East County Major Crimes Unit personnel identified the person responsible for the victim’s injuries as Rosa-Aldana.
Two hours later, at approximately 3:15 a.m., Rosa-Aldana was located on West Hillcrest Drive and was taken into custody. He was then transported to Ventura County Jail, where he was booked on a charge of attempted murder, with his bail set at $540,000.
