Mendocino County woman arrested after deputy finds homemade assault weapon during traffic stop
A Mendocino County woman was reportedly arrested after being caught with narcotics and an illegal gun during a traffic stop.
Around 1 AM on July 6, a deputy pulled over 33-year-old Keisha Hoaglin for an alleged vehicle code violation in the area of Concow and Foothill Boulevards in Covelo. Though Hoaglin initially gave the name of a family member instead of her own, her real identity was quickly discovered, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The deputy reportedly noticed methamphetamine smoking pipes in plain view in Hoaglin’s vehicle, as well as a firearm case in the back seat. Hoaglin, who turned out to have a warrant out for her arrest, was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody.
The deputy then searched the vehicle and reportedly found two baggies containing a total of over 40 grams of meth, ammunition, and in the firearm case, a homemade AR-15-style rifle with features classifying it as an assault weapon, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Hoaglin was ultimately booked at the Mendocino County Jail on a variety of weapon- and narcotics-related charges.
