Shasta County man accused of shooting at teens who allegedly stole his scooter

“On Tuesday, 7/12/22, at approximately 0745 hours, SHASCOM received multiple reports of an adult male chasing three juveniles near the Circle K, 4833 Shasta Dam Boulevard in the City of Shasta Lake. Several parties also reported hearing gunshots in the area.
Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies from the City of Shasta Lake Station responded to the area and contacted 58-year-old Allen Richards of the City of Shasta Lake. It was learned that the three juveniles had stolen Richards’ scooter from a nearby skate park and he was chasing them in an attempt to get it back. While in the process of chasing the juveniles, one of them, a 14- year-old male from Round Mountain, shot at Richards using a handgun, no one was injured.
The juveniles fled the area and, with the help of witnesses, one juvenile was located in the area of Grand River Avenue and was taken into custody. The other two juveniles were also contacted and later released to their guardians. The firearm used in this incident was later recovered by deputies and discovered it had been stolen. Deputies were assisted in locating the weapon by K9 Toni.
The juvenile was later arrested and booked into Shasta County Juvenile Hall for 245(a)(2) PC, Assault with a firearm, and 487(d)(2) PC, Theft of a firearm.
