“RIVERSIDE, CA – Detectives have arrested a suspect for a murder that occurred on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, in the 8500 block of Hickory Lane. That afternoon around 3:32 p.m., the City of Riverside’s Public Safety Communications Center received several calls of a possible shooting at this location. Officers arrived and found 33-year-old Bryan Davis of Riverside suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, Mr. Davis was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics.
Preliminary investigation revealed Mr. Davis had been approached by two men who exited a vehicle. At some point during the interaction, one of the men produced a handgun and fatally shot the victim. Both men got back into the vehicle then fled.
Detectives with the Robbery – Homicide Unit, along with Specialists from the Forensics Unit, responded and assumed the investigation. They have been assisted by the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office and the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.
Their investigation led detectives to identify the primary suspect as 23-year-old Joshua Jesse Duran of Riverside, a documented gang member and on parole for firearms violations. On Wednesday, July 14th and with assistance from the Gang Intelligence Unit and METRO Team, Joshua Duran was located in Riverside near Alessandro Boulevard and Mission Grove Parkway. He was safely apprehended and later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for murder, weapons violations, and violation of parole, and is currently being held without bail.
This homicide investigation is still ongoing and there are no further details to release at this time.
