“From June 27, 2022 – June 30, 2022, a large-scale, multi-agency search warrant operation occurred in southern Trinity County. Thirty-four search warrants were served across forty private parcels of land. This operation stemmed from continuous, non-permitted, black market marijuana cultivation sites operating in the region. Water diversion, pollution, and illegal structures were of great concern.
A total of 84,850 marijuana plants were eradicated, 5,419 pounds of processed marijuana was destroyed, and 6 firearms were seized. Several subjects were detained, interviewed and later released pending charges with the Trinity County District Attorney’s Office.
California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) scientists documented over seventy environmental violations including illegal water diversions, large scale illegal grading, unpermitted structures with dangerous illegal electric installed, areas where deleterious, petroleum products were being introduced into watersheds, and use of dangerous rodenticides and pesticides were discovered and documented during this operation.
The criminal complaints stemming from this operation will be forwarded to the Trinity County District Attorney’s Office.
