July 16, 2022 – Santa Barbara County, Ca.
Another indication that the effort by several California municipalities to extend “Happy Hour” from 2:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. might not be such a wonderful idea came on the night of July 2 nd , when Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department Santa Maria Dispatch Center received reports of a shooting victim outside of Louie B’s Bar in the City of Santa Maria.
According to Santa Maria Police Department spokesman Detective Oscar Corral, officers responding to the scene found “one person with life threatening injuries” outside the bar.
American Medical Response ambulance personnel arrived and promptly transported the victim to Santa Maria Regional Hospital, where he later succumbed to a gunshot wound.
At the scene, the cops “noticed a man sitting on the sidewalk a short distance from the victim.” Contact was immediately made with 27-year-old Washington State resident Ron Dolph Tutay. A brief interview of Tutay gave officers “cause to arrest him for drug-related violations,” and hewas summarily taken into custody.
The ensuing investigation involving a survey of “physical evidence located at the scene” led to Tutay’s arrest in connection with the shooting. Tutay was transported to Santa Maria Jail, where he was booked on a charge of murder with additional enhancements involving the use of a firearm. He remains in custody with his bail set at $3,000,000.
