Two arrested after alleged shoplifting incident at Big 5 in Crescent City
Two people were arrested in connection to a recent alleged shoplifting incident in Crescent City.
Around 6 PM on July 20, officers responded to the Big 5 store regarding an alleged shoplifting in progress. Officers arrived on scene to ultimately find the suspect vehicle at a nearby Starbucks, with assistance from a person who had witnessed the alleged shoplifting, police said.
K-9 Lt. Kai also responded to the scene with police and reportedly detected the presence of narcotics in the suspects’ vehicle. Officers searched the vehicle and located stolen property from Big 5, as well as property from another alleged shoplifting incident at another store.
Officers also found a meth pipe and a flare gun that had been converted to fire .32 caliber handgun ammunition (shown above), police said.
Officers ultimately took two people into custody: 32-year-old Tabetha Rhodes on suspicion of shoplifting and other charges, and 46-year-old Gerald Dollarhide of Oregon on suspicion of possession of stolen property, possession of a zip gun, and being a felon/prohibited person in possession of a firearm.
