“Over the last couple of months you have probably seen members from our Sheriff’s Office Homeless of Amador React Team (HART) conducting outreach and enforcement at the Vista Point homeless encampment off of Highway 49 in Jackson.
During this timeframe HART members have successfully assisted two individuals into rehabilitation programs, offered housing/shelter resources, as well as options for reunification and relocation.
We have made a handful of arrests based on a large number of calls for service, and even worked with Environmental Health and Cal Fire to identify environmental and fire safety issues.
Due to the fact this encampment in on State property we are currently working with the California Highway Patrol and Caltrans to assist in the clean-up.
Over the next few weeks HART, Jackson Police Homeless Outreach, Animal Control and Behavioral Health will continue to conduct outreach and offer services to those individuals remaining at the encampment leading up to the move out date in September.”
