Man Cited for Allegedly Crashing into Sheriff’s Office Parking Lot
August 5, 2022 – Ventura County, Ca.
Over the past decade or so—with the vast improvements in automotive technology and an increase in the volume of traffic on highways and byways that akin to the birthrate of lemmings—there has come to be an understanding between drivers and traffic cops that there is a certain “flexibility” in the enforcement of speed limits where safe traffic flow allows some forgiveness.
That forgiveness, however, evaporates when a motorist drives at such a high rate of speed that a vehicle careens off the roadway at 80-90 mph, plunges down an embankment, goes airborne, flips nearly a half-dozen times, and lands in the Ventura County Sheriff’s East Valley Station parking lot in the middle of marked and unmarked patrol vehicles.
According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Deputy Chris Riggs, that’s exactly what took place in the early evening hours of July 27 th when 18-year-old Oxnard resident Cristian Torralba “was driving his vehicle at a high rate of speed” as he approached a Thousand Oaks commercial district intersection” and proceeded to lose control. Moments later, Torralba and his two passengers found themselves hanging on for dear life as their car “overturned approximately 5 times while colliding with multiple signs, trees, and bushes.”
Deputies who were in the parking lot at the time of this chaos “responded immediately, providing medical aid” to Torralba and his passengers. Once the three individuals were transported via ambulance to nearby hospitals for treatment of their injuries, the ensuing investigation revealed that Torralba was driving “out of compliance” with his state issued driver’s permit.
Torralba was cited for Reckless Driving with Bodily Injury and for driving while unlicensed.
