“On August 3, 2022, at approximately 12:47 p.m., the Los Banos Police Department responded to the 1700 Block of Mills Drive regarding a residential burglary in progress.
The 15-year-old victim reported hearing a loud noise in the downstairs portion of his residence and observed an adult male inside of his home. Officers arrived within minutes of the 9-1-1 call, however the suspect had fled and was not located at the scene. Officers were able to obtain video surveillance from the homes surveillance system and identified 35-year-old Leonel Alonso of Los Banos as the suspect. The victim was not injured during the burglary.
A few hours later, Sergeant Jesus Parras observed the suspect walking into a business in the 1300 Block of E. Pacheco Boulevard. The suspect observed the officer and fled from the scene after discarding his clothing. A short time later, Los Banos Detectives Michael Neal and Lupe Moreno located the suspect walking in the area of 10th and I Street and placed him under arrest. During the arrest, Alonso attempted to provide a false name to the officers however his identify was confirmed and the officers learned he was also on Merced County Probation.
Alonso was booked into the Los Banos Police Department Jail, without bail, charged with providing false information to a peace officer, residential burglary and violation of probation.”
