A man and a woman from Newport Beach have been arrested after three men were stabbed outside a Costa Mesa nightclub.
Tremere Robert Mason and Nancy Ahmad Bakir, both 23, were arrested in Irvine on Wednesday, August 3rd, the day after the stabbing. Mason was charged with attempted homicide and assault with a deadly weapon. Bakir was charged with accessory after the fact.
All three men who were stabbed are in their early 20s. Two of them were treated for their injuries and released from the hospital the next day. One of the men was admitted to the hospital in critical condition but was said to be in stable condition after undergoing surgery.
The incident took place the night before, around 11 PM on August 2nd. “Officers learned the three stabbings occurred as a result of a disturbance in a nightclub on Harbor Boulevard,” said Costa Mesa police. One of the three male victims was kicked out of the nightclub by security and sent a text to his friends to let them know. Mason and Bakir, who were also kicked out, followed the three men to the parking lot. As Bakir recorded the incident, Mason confronted the men and assaulted each of them. One of the men was stabbed in the lower back, another’s arm was slashed, and another was stabbed in the chest. Bakir and Mason fled the scene in Bakir’s vehicle before police arrived.
Detectives were able to identify the suspects and located them at the 4300 block of Jamboree Road the following day. Mason and Bakir were each detained, interviewed, and subsequently arrested.
“At this time, the arrestee’s booking photos will not be released due to ID issues. Video recordings are part of evidence in this case and will not be released.”
