“Excellent proactive patrol arrest by Officer Lamoly led to drugs and a loaded firearm being taken off the streets of Santa Cruz.
This past Sunday, SCPD initiated a proactive stop on a vehicle that was oddly parked in the roadway and obstructing a driveway on Ocean Street. Officers instructed the driver, who appeared under the influence, to step out of the vehicle. During the pat search, officers discovered a concealed loaded 9mm handgun on Joshua Baltazar’s person. The firearm’s serial number was obliterated.
The reason behind a person removing a serial number on a gun is to prevent police from tracing the gun to previous locations or people.
Mr. Baltazar was arrested for multiple weapons violations and possession of Xanax.
